Please find below message from Zuk and Peter from Ulfhednir regarding Moesgard 2010.
Cheers,
Evert
Greetings Warriors of Moesgaard
First of all we would like to thank both Ruud and Sven for delivering a fantastic job handling the fighters these last couple years. We also thank you for trusting us with the exciting possibility of planning and challenging you at next year’s Moesgaard.
The months have flown by since our last glorious battles at Moesgaard and the crows have feed on our fallen comrades. Christmas is now closing in and it is time to begin the low rumble of war drums for the battles ahead.
This is our first mail concerning the week and the battles at Moesgaard 2010. We are already looking forward to deliver an exciting and challenging week for all of you. Since this is our first year organizing the fighters and battles, we have listened to many good ideas and inputs from all of you during the week at Moesgaard 2009 and the last couple of months. Based on this input, many good ideas and our own discussions, we are now ready to let you in on some of the changes and new ideas for Moesgaard 2010.
These are some of the changes for the rules, the week and the battles in 2010.
Basic rules:
- Arms as a hit zone will NOT be included. This was an exciting idea from Sven and Ruud, but it was tested and decided in 2009 that it would not be part of our fighting system at Moesgaard. This was a good initiative and there are still people who are interested in this, but we have decided to look forward and try new ideas for 2010. Therefore NO armshots in 2010.
- The hit area will remain the same as 2009.
The week:
- Cancelled. The Champions League will not be continued and therefore no longer be part of the program for the week at Moesgaard.
- Addition. War Game. As an entirely new thing for the week at Moesgaard, we will create a massive War Game on Thursday. It will take place in the forest and surrounding area of Moesgaard. It will be a huge “cross groups” event and contain many challenges, surprises and goals. More information on this will come later.
- Workshops. Many of the classical workshops will still be part of the program, but they will be more concentrated time wise. We are currently working on entirely new kinds of workshops, e.g. Eastern Style fighting. Teachers for the seminars will be asked directly by us, but if you have a good idea and want to run a seminar, write us an email on moesgaardwarriors@gmail.com .
The Battles:
- There will be NO armor points during the battles. The rule of armor points was originally created to lengthen the battles when we were a lot fewer. With the astounding 400+ warriors from 2009, we no longer believe this to be necessary. Another reason is to address the issue of authenticity. We believe this will help create a more realistic Viking battle for the audience. There is way too much armor on the battlefield today.
- Addition. Fighting banners. It is now possible to fight with your banner during the battles, but there will be strict rules to follow. These rules will be specified precisely later. The banners MUST be attached to a fighting spear and carried by an experienced fighter. Children are not allowed to carry banners. It will however be allowed for non fighters or injured fighters to also carry banners to the field. These banners CANNOT be fighting weapons. More on this later.
- Addition. Capturing enemy banners. After having had a long discussion on this, we have decided to allow the capture of enemy banner during battles. This will however be connected to rules of conduct. RESPECT YOUR OPPONENT. Every banner captured MUST be returned immediately after each battle to the group that owns it. Every single captured banner must be treated with respect. If a fighter fails to follow this rule of conduct, then he/she is not allowed to fight the rest of the battles. We will be VERY strict on this.
- Muster. We have decided to change the official muster times for the battles. For 2010 each fighter must be ready in full gear at their muster point 30 min. before each battle. You no longer have to wait for 1-1½ hour before entering the battlefield.
Working process:
- The battle itself. We are currently working on some ideas on how to change the way we do the battles. You will hear more about this in the new year.
- Friday muster and testing of lines. The whole way muster on Friday is run will be changed. More info to come.
There will probably be a lot more to come, but for now this is what we have for you. So as you can see, we have thrown everything into the pot, stirred and shaken it… and hopefully we will create a lot of new fantastic memories together with you all in 2010.
Please forward this letter to your groups and Viking friends.
For questions, please send an email on our new mail: moesgaardwarriors@gmail.com
Yours truly,
Zuk and Peter Marius

Moesgaard will be very soon. Nothing new came up since december. Should we ask, if there's anything to know? |

great!
I want to recommend one thing: Every fighter should be able to take a bottle of water with him, whenever he's going to fight.
It's so easy and in the last years I've seen many thirsty fighters who get angry, cause the household didn't deliver water fast enough. You're all adults, so do yourself a favor and bring some water yourself.
see ya there |

We bring 4 Household to Moesgard.2 Of them are 18- fighters. They can be water carriers
for the weekend battles. They will be watching the Battles anyway so it only makes sense to let them bring the water.Carrying water can be hard work as well,so treat them with respect! And of course it is a smart idea to bring your own water
