That vid of Saturday's 2nd battle looked interesting... anyone care to summarise the broader tactics that were used this year?
I've been going a bit nuts over here (we all have), watching these and wishing we were there! |

Bjarni,
the saturday was very defensive, using the house as a tactical obstacle.
The bottleneck at the house was held by ASK and Danerhird. The other side of the house was held by the "Norwegian alliiance" and the centre by "Jomsborg", having a gap between them.
Down to the trees there were "Bernsteinring", "Einwic" and "Blodhvitnir" as the "german Panzers".
Between Jomsborg and 'the Panzers' were a huge gap which was protected in the rear by "Jomsborg"- and ASK-troups to lure some runners in.
That was the rough tactic. On sunday we were much more offensive to give the others a good fight on open field and that worked not that good. |

Thanks Dennis, that helps to explain the big gap I could see to the right of Einwic. Did many runners go in there?
It also explains why the enemy seemed so hesitant to engage. I wish there was anything of this scale in Australia - if we have 20-30 people fighting it's a big fight, but of course tactics can never play as huge a role as they do at Moesgaard.
Damn I can't wait to come back! |
